Each fall, members gather either regionally at WACES (even years), or nationally at ACES (odd years), for a conference to present research and exchange ideas. The annual business meeting, held during the conference, invites members to present, discuss, and vote on Association issues and policies. Through liaisons with the ACES Executive Council, WACES works collaboratively with ACES and the other four regional organizations to promote the common goals of supporting and enhancing counselor education and supervision at state, regional, national, and international levels.
What are the benefits of membership? Reduced conference rates, reduced regional training fees, voting privileges, service on the Governing Board, nominations for the WACES awards, full website access, announcements such as job fairs, and advocacy at the district, state, and national levels.
What is the price of membership? As of August 1, 2016, all regional members (including WACES members) will be required to become members of ACA and ACES first. All ACES members will automatically join the regional organization where they are located (such as WACES). Thus, the cost of joining WACES is technically free, so long as you are already an ACA and ACES member.

As you may know, on March 31, 2016 at the ACA Conference in Montreal, the ACES General Assembly voted to change the ACES By-Laws, thus transferring the fiduciary responsibility of the regions to the Division level. ACES members voted for this change in order to bring the regions into compliance with federal tax laws. In order to streamline this process, the ACES General Assembly also voted to increase ACES dues by $15.00 for all member types beginning August 1, 2016. These changes mean that after August 1, 2016 when you renew your membership in ACA/ACES, you will pay an additional $15.00 and will automatically become a member of the region in which you reside. You may join other regions for an additional $15.00 per region.
If you are due to renew your regional dues in June or July of 2015, there will be no regional membership renewals during those months. You will renew your regional membership the next time you are due to renew your ACA/ACES membership.
If you have paid for a two or three year membership in your region, then you will be eligible for a rebate when you renew your ACA/ACES membership after August 1, 2016. Your rebate will be prorated based on the number of months between when you paid for your regional membership and when you renew your ACA/ACES membership divided by the number of months in your original membership. To receive the rebate, please contact via email the ACES treasurer, Dr. Brian Dew (email@example.com) and send him documentation of when you paid your regional and ACES dues and the number of months of that membership (e.g. 2 years = 24 months). Be sure to include your mailing address so a check can be sent directly to you.
If you renewed your annual regional membership within three months of your ACA/ACES renewal date, you may be eligible for a prorated regional membership rebate. Please send via email your rebate request to Dr. Brian Dew, ACES Treasurer, (firstname.lastname@example.org) who will review it and forward it to the ACES Governing Council for approval.
The deadline for all rebate requests is August 1, 2017.
