2019-2020 WACES Research Award Grants Call for Proposals
Purpose: Fund innovative research studies related to counselor education and supervision. WACES will fund up to four proposals, of up to $500 each.
Who May Apply: This grant competition is open to both active professional and student members of WACES. Because of their need and because of the limited fund available for student research, student researchers are especially encouraged to apply. Individuals may submit (or be part of a submission team) only one proposal. Multiple submissions by any researcher (individually or as part of multiple research teams) will not be accepted. Project being considered for funding cannot already be completed by the time the award is announced.
Proposal Format: Proposals must adhere to the following requirements in order to be considered:
Follow the guidelines set forth in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th ed.) (2010). [No title page and abstract needed; the application form will serve as the title page.]
The written proposal must be no more than two pages(1” margins; 12-point font), excluding the application form, references, and budget.
Evaluation Criteria: A panel of reviewers will evaluate research proposals using the following criteria:
Proposed topic is within the scope of counselor education and supervision, as evidence by the literature review (30 pts.)
The study rationale (i.e., need) is clearly stated (20 pts.)
Strength, clarity, and feasibility of the research methodology (30 pts.)
The overall application is polished and well-written (20 pts.)
Note: Applicable ethical standards for research with human subjects must be cited in the proposal if the proposed study includes human subjects. As a condition of the acceptance of the grant award, the researcher(s) is required to:
Submit a final report including a description of research activities and how funding is being or has been used.
The research(s) will include an acknowledgment of WACES financial support of the project in all reports, presentations, or publications related to the supported project.
Awardees are strongly encouraged to submit a proposal in presentation form and present the research results at a WACES or ACES conference when the next call is announced (the next call would be for the WACES 2020 conference).
Deadline for Submission: The deadline for submission is January 3, 2020, 5:00 PM PST.
Maximum Amount Funded: WACES provides a maximum amount of $500 per grant that is awarded.
